Brisbane has no shortage of major attractions and events. Last year, the city celebrated the holiday season with various activities for everyone to enjoy. The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols, the City Hall lights, Christmas Cinema, Christmas on Queen, and the Enchanted Gardens were all part of the festivities.
2022 will be no exception. All of these events, as well as others, can be found in December. There is plenty to explore and experience if you want to have a festive Christmas in Brisbane.
Christmas Putt Putt
Have a merry Christmas Putt Putt at Victoria Park. Enjoy the festive fairways decorated with bells, bows, bright twinkling lights, and lifesize Christmas delights from November 11 to January 3.
The Sandy Claws is the first challenge, followed by Deck The Fairways and Presents Parade. After that, try to beat the swinging pole at The Grinch’s Grotto to enter the snowy terrain of The North Pole, which is home to polar bears, penguins, and magical Christmas elves.
The Putt Putt course is fully licensed, so you can have drinks and snacks delivered from the Golf Shop while you play.
Big Band Cabaret – Christmas Special Events
On December 8, enjoy a three-hour show-stopping night and a three-course meal and drinks package at Cloudland, an out-of-this-world Brisbane Italian restaurant, bar, and event space. Enjoy an extravagant Christmas edition of Cloudland’s Big Band Cabaret filled with bright Christmas lights, glitz, and a charismatic yuletide drag queen.
Underground Opera’s Carols in the Reservoir
Want to see a Christmas show in an architecturally stunning setting? The Spring Hill Reservoir is an architectural marvel. The reservoir is six metres underground and is divided into 15 sections by headwalls, with each unit connected by hand-lain brick archways that have stood for 140 years.
Carols in the Reservoir will be here from December 9 to 22, featuring World Class performers Dominique Fegan, Louise Dorsman, Lionel Theunissen, Glen Lorimer, and Mark Connors.
A Cracker Kransky Christmas
The Kransky Sisters have returned. The Kranky sisters are eager to share stories and freshly spun songs, deftly banged out on their wondrously odd-ball menagerie of instruments as they travel down in the trusty Morris from their hometown of Esk. From December 13 to 24, they will be at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC).
Christmas Portside Markets
Let us begin with shopping. Have you started looking for gifts yet? With over 55 stalls to browse, you’re sure to find many hidden gems at The Market Folk’s Christmas Portside Markets.
Make your way to the waterfront to buy the perfect Christmas gifts, art and ceramics, handmade jewellery, pet treats, or fashion. There will also be activities and giveaways, live music on the wharf, and free ornament painting workshops for the first marketgoers on December 18 at the Portside Wharf from 3 pm to 7 pm.
