2023 Clancestry Festival
Clancestry is a yearly First Nations festival openly organised, directed, and run by Australian First Nations People. It annually supports over a hundred First Nations artists.
The Clancestry Festival will return from November 8 – 12 at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC). It will feature a fantastic schedule of live events, activities, concerts, workshops, theatre, children’s events, and more to celebrate everything stunning, black, and lethal about First Nations arts and culture.
They are commemorating their tenth anniversary this year. Experience a remarkable musical journey with master musician William Barton, a concert with incredible artists from various musical genres and generations featuring Troy Cassar-Daley, intimate theatre by Emily Wells, and an exciting schedule of free live music, children’s events, workshops, and more.

William Barton: Sky Songs
Experience a breathtaking musical voyage as master musician William Barton takes the audience to the distant past, future, the gorgeous Australian landscape, and the seemingly unfathomable mysteries of space.
One of Australia’s best didgeridoo players, William Barton, is one of the country’s most well-known musicians. He is a Kalkadunga man who creates inspiring, energising, and potent music.
Face by Emily Wells
A proud Kamilaroi, Emily Wells works as a producer and playwright in the theatre, contemporary dance, and festivals. Emily is passionate about helping artists in their creative endeavours and using performance to promote dialogue and societal change.
Face to Face by Emily Wells is a touching story about two women coping with the complicated ramifications of detaching from country life and criticism from their neighbourhood, family, and, most importantly, yourself.
Song Circle
Five outstanding musicians will perform songs and share experiences on stage in Song Circle. We will share these songs that unite us all while listening to music from various genres and decades. Seize the opportunity to see Shane Howard, Troy Cassar-Daley, Dan Sultan, Neil Murray, and Sara Storer. Everyone has a story to tell, and here is an opportunity for them.
Weaving Workshops
Along with the shows, you ought to attend their workshops. At the Clancestry Festival Ground, you may learn to weave while making your creations from natural and recyclable materials.
