When the sun rose on April 25, 1915, Australian and New Zealander soldiers rowed toward Gallipoli and into history. Since then, on April 25, Australians have assembled to commemorate the ANZACs in honour of all the men and women who have served in battles, wars, and peacekeeping missions worldwide.

On April 25, Brisbane will have a dawn service and parade. But there are also other ways to show your respect.

ANZAC Square Memorial Galleries

Consider beginning your Anzac Day inside the Anzac Square Memorial Galleries with an interactive trip from the First World War to the present. Under the Shrine of Memory in Brisbane’s central business district, a free display is organised by the State Library of Queensland.

To learn more, schedule a visit to the Memorial Gallery, which is open during special Anzac Day hours. Visit them from 5:30 am to 3 pm. Please register for a free discussion on The Gallipoli Campaign to discover more about Australia’s most significant national event.

The Anzac Square Memorial Galleries’ free discussion examines tales from the Gallipoli campaign. The Gallipoli campaign intended to end the Ottomans’ involvement in the conflict but swiftly devolved into a deadlock for eight drawn-out months. In this operation, the Australian and New Zealand troops demonstrated their enormous potential for bravery in the face of danger and endurance under trying circumstances by exhibiting stoicism, humour, self-sacrifice, and comradeship traits.

This free discussion will draw from the State Library of Queensland’s military collection of tales, diaries, letters, and pictures. Following the free talk, guests are welcome to stay and see the Memorial Gallery, going on an interactive trip from the First World War to the present before contemplating the incredible tales of bravery and sacrifice in the serene parklands.

ANZAC DAY Dawn Service

The Anzac Day Dawn Ceremony in Brisbane City will begin at 4:28 am; anybody interested should meet at the Shrine of Remembrance at 3:00 am. By placing a poppy or wreath inside the Memorial Galleries or in the Anzac Square parklands, attendees participating in person are welcome to pay tribute to their heroes.
